Work In Progress Wednesday

What have I been up to?

I don’t know about you, but before I became a writer, my other careers involved interaction with humans on a regular basis. Real people, not the ones I create in my head. I spent my days surrounded by students or posing people for a camera. Even when I worked from home, it was always with communication happening about the work.
Fast forward to today, and while I’m someone who loves time to myself, it also gets kind of weird. Day after day, month after month with no one who knows exactly what I’m doing until I’m counting down a release and yelling “Surprise!” :)
Am I sitting here looking up the lyrics to a Taylor Swift song? Am I watching “My Happy Marriage” anime on Netflix and calling it “research”? Maybeeee.
I’m also writing, working on new marketing materials, and generally pulling my hair out trying to come up with social media content like the cool kids when the truth is I’m a 54 year-old woman with a bigger hankering for a nice cup of tea than to figure out “trending sounds.”
Speaking of tea, I went really nuts and got a subscription to Harney & Son Imperial Earl Grey. Every month, my absurdly expensive tea arrives in a pretty tin and pre-measured into little silk sachet bags. I sip it in an old blue mug I got from IKEA (the one with the chip in the handle) and enjoy my little life of luxury.
And while I can’t promise to get to it every Wednesday, I’ve decided a regular WIP Wednesday sounds like a good idea. It’s my little check-in with you, my readers. Consider this our water cooler.
The past seven days have been wildly eclectic for me with so many balls in the air. The audiobook for Ardently Yours is going to be in “duet” form, rather than “dual.” (If you’re not familiar with the term, it’s the style of narration where the man reads the male parts, and the woman reads all the female parts). They don’t just read their own chapters, but perform their own dialogue. These will be new narrators in the Trust & Tequila world, and they’re both fantastic: Savannah Thomas and Gideon Frost. We’re guessing we’ll have a September release, but the dates aren’t written in stone yet.
I’ve also been working on special edition paperbacks and working with an illlustrator/designer on character art to go inside them. Fingers crossed for reveals next week. These will be available for those who prefer to have something pretty in paperback, but, I don’t have plans to ditch the guys entirely.
Mostly, though, Gabriel and Sydney’s book, “Love What’s Left” has been pouring out of me. Enemies to lovers(ish) and a reformed bad boy? I’m loving it. Gabriel and Sydney’s story takes place about seven years after the timeline of Say You Will. I’m still in the first draft stage, so I can’t give too many spoilers. But these are some hints. :)

If you haven’t grabbed your copy of Ardently Yours: Trust & Tequila, for a limited time, you can get it for only ninety-nine pennies.
Until next time,
Love Always, Evangeline
